Considerably larger than Sydney harbour Jervis Bay is one of
only a couple of Marine Parks in New South Wales. Offering some of
the whitest sand and clearest waters in the world Jervis Bay is a
unique and amazing place.
 |
Originally know only as a small fishing village
on the South Coast, Jervis Bay is evolving into a regular year
round coastal escape, extremely popular among Australian tourists.
In fact, Jervis Bay is one of the most visited regions in Australia
only after Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Although people refer to the area as “Jervis Bay” it is actually
the towns of Huskisson and Vincentia that provide us with all
facilities. Huskisson and Vincentia have a variety of cafes
and restaurants while the Husky Pub is the favourite local
watering hole. |
Jervis Bay is home to an amazing variety of wildlife both in and
around the Marine Park and various surrounding National Parks. There
are about 80 resident dolphins, migrating whales, seals, fairy penguins,
sea eagles, pelicans, kangaroos and a whole lot more for all to see.
Jervis Bay has been home to Aboriginal tribes for over 20 000 years
and they continue to live in the area managing Booderee National
Park (Booderee meaning “Bay of Plenty”). There is still a strong
sense of tradition in the area with a number of tours and activities
available that can show how life used to be for the native Australians.
Not highly recognised on the backpacker’s trail Jervis Bay is off
the “beaten track” some might say. This is not a place that takes
up 3 pages of the bible (Lonely Planet) but that is the way we like
it and it is reflected in the guests we have stay. We service people
who want to experience the true Australia, our wildlife, our beaches
and our people.
